Summer Fete

The Summer Fete was held today on the Junior Lawn and the weather was very kind to us.

With a Brazilian theme there was lots of green and yellow on show and the children ran their stalls with great gusto and enthusiasm.
Many thanks go to all the parents who supported the event and to all the staff who contributed to the organisation.
One of the highlights was the Stoneygate Samba Squad who you can see below.

The profits from the event will be shared between ‘Hope Against Cancer’ (our Charity of the Year) and equipment for the school.

Summer Fete

Preparations are now well under way for the Summer Fete, which will take place next week, on Thursday 3rd July between 1:30pm and 3:30pm on the Junior Lawn.
Parents are invited to attend, to share in the fun of the ‘Brazilian Carnival’ theme, in honour of the World Cup.
The children in Year 4 and above have chosen their own stalls to run and have been busy making signs to promote these stalls. The winning signs from each year are shown below:
Year 7 (Three joint winners)

Year 6

Year 5

Year 4

Proceeds from the Fete will be shared between our charity of the year, ‘Hope against Cancer’ and equipment for the school.
To fit with the Brazilian theme of the Fete there will be a performance at 2:30pm by the ‘Stoneygate Samba Squad’. This group has been formed just for the day and they will be playing special drums and percussion instruments under the guidance of Mrs Ashwin and Peter Davis, the Head of Music at Oakham School. The School Shop will be open in the Foyer of the Senior School throughout the event.
The children can wear their own summer clothes at the event, but they are encouraged to wear Green and/or Yellow to fit with the theme.
Let’s hope we get some Copacabana sunshine rather than an Amazonian downpour!
