Question of Sport from SSA

What a fun night we all had on Friday night at the Question of Sport Night held at the Tigers .

The raffle and auction items, including a snooker cue signed by Mark Selby and two weekends in an apartment in Budapest (thank you Judit for donating this prize) raised over £2,000 for our chosen charity ‘Wishes for Kids’.

The two teams, captained by Martin Johnson and Paul Nixon, did battle to the questions posed by our esteemed Quiz Master, Matt Poole.

Although Johno’s team of Muzzy Izzet and our own Mr Palmer put up a brave fight, Nico’s team of Sarah “Cutty” Cohen and a very knowledgeable Mr Jelly were victorious.

Thank you so much for all of our team members for giving up their valuable time on a Friday evening to entertain us. Massive thanks also go to Matt Poole and his technical team for presenting such a professional event. Finally, thank you to all the parents and their family and friends who came along to support us.Question of Sport Team Photo Question of Sport panel

A Date for your Diary – November 15

Plans are well underway for the inaugural Stoneygate School Ball.

It’s due to take place at Shearsby Bath on Saturday, November 15.

Watch this space for more information – but in the meantime, Remember, Remember School Ball in November.

Details are also being finalised for a Stoneygate Question of Sport Night.

This event will feature some of our well-known sporting dads.

We will keep you posted.

Update on Fundraising and the results

The SSA was disappointed to have to cancel this week’s Mums’ Big Night Out. It is usually very popular and a great fundraiser. The event did fall on the same date as the Senior Choir concert and unfortunately the low ticket sales meant it was not viable.

On a positive note, the Stoneygate Bake Off prizes were handed out to our winning talented young cooks during last week’s assembly.   It proved to be a brilliant Bake Off again and the sale of the competition entries raised £150 for the Fiona Cairns charity.

There’s all this fundraising going on, but how we are spending the money?

The most recent purchase has been new table tennis bats, nets and balls. These have been bought for the senior school to use at break time.

The SSA would like to hear from you with suggestions for ways in which the monies raised can be spent so the children benefit.

Please keep checking the blog for further SSA news. Many thanks for all your support.

SSA NEWS ALERT!

Calling all thirsty mums and dads!

The long-awaited coffee station has arrived.

Hot drinks will be available for parents throughout the day in the foyer of the new school building. There are a range of coffees, teas and hot chocolate. It’s just 50p a drink.

The SSA has funded this project and drinks are charged at cost. Not only does it offer hot refreshments at the touch of a button, it is also hoped it will make the foyer a hub for parents  – watch this space…

Come along for the grand opening at 3pm today (Wednesday, February 5)
