The LAMDA examinations in March produced some fabulous results with nine Distinctions all over 80%, eleven Merits and seven respectable passes. The examiner was Priscilla Morris, who is a highly respected LAMDA examiner and International Voice Coach. Her reports were very informative with constructive advice for the candidates. An excellent result for Stoneygate drama students.
There have been a number of set-backs with our forthcoming show “Porridge” with students dropping out owing to exam pressure, scripts being lost and girls defecting to the netball court. However…there’s no business like show business and the show must go on so all the amazing troupers in year 5 & 6 and a small handful of year 7 girls are working their socks off to bring Porridge back to life. Rehearsals will be fast, furious and stressful but no doubt fun. Any parents wanting to lend a hand or give an extra boost to Mrs Guillain’s overworked vocal chords are more than welcome to come along.
Spring has been a busy time for Stoneygate drama students. March 1st was the Lamda examination day and, although the results haven’t yet come in, everyone worked hard and showed commitment and enthusiasm. A special drama recital was performed on March 11th in the Hall where parents were able to see the work that has been achieved by the students over the past few months. Many parents commented on the diverse range of pieces. Drama, comedy, poetry, sketches and readings were all competently performed by years 5 to 7.
At the moment year 5 to 7 drama club members are hoping to put on a short production called Porridge in June. Rehearsals have tentatively started but we have a long way to go! A full rehearsal schedule will be issued soon by Mrs Guillain and then it will be all systems go!
