Keyboards, Drums and Guitars in Concert

This year’s Keyboard, Drums and Guitar concert was a triumph! As an audience, we were entertained by both experienced players and those making their concert debuts. There was a variety of pieces, from folk songs and nursery rhymes to rock classics and pop favourites. Our performers were well prepared and played with fluency and poise. I was particularly impressed by Bertie L’s recovery in his performance on drum kit. He dropped his drum sticks, picked them up and managed to stay in time with his backing track! This showed real composure and impressive style.

It was also good to have some original songs in the concert. Sam N entertained royally with his ukulele song that he has written himself. Since I heard it in assembly recently, he has changed the ending and enhanced its wittiness!

Singing at South Lodge Care Home

On Thursday 5 Dec, twenty-four of our most dedicated singers got in the minibuses and went to South Lodge Care Home in Stoneygate, Leicester. We were welcomed very warmly by a large audience that more than filled the room in which we were performing. Our team sang some pieces that we had been learning for the Carol Service and some that we had learned specially for this concert. Amongst the songs was Walking in the Air, Miri It Is and In the Bleak Midwinter. We also had a solo from Charlotte W. and ensemble performances from a Year 5 group (Bea, Megan, Annabelle and Elizabeth) and a Year 6 group (Freya (vocals and saxophone), Antonia, Caitlin and Gracie).

 South Lodge Concert

All performers had attended extra rehearsals and performed very well in an unfamiliar setting. We had some lovely reactions from the residents at the South Lodge and hope we brought them some Christmas cheer!

Well done to everyone involved.
