Dear Parents, children and staff,
Please accept a final reminder that Fiona Cairns will be in school tomorrow (Tuesday from 4:20-5:20pm) and will be talking to the children, staff and parents. All children in Year 5 -8 will attend, as this is their normal prep time. Younger children are welcome to attend (with their parents) and all parents/relatives/friends are most welcome.
After Fiona’s presentation there will be a chance to ask her some questions. Then we will hold a free raffle for the children, with a chance to win one of her cakes. Following this we will auction off some of her cakes, in aid of Fiona’s charity – THE AKSHAR TRUST (which she will mention during her talk). We have chosen to not charge for tickets to the talk, but instead there will be a ‘leaving collection’ in aid of the charity. We are hoping to raise over £150, so children and parents please be prepared and bring some cash into school on Tuesday.
Finally, at around 5:20pm, there will be a chance to buy one of Fiona’s cookbooks (£12, £14 or £17 – see below) and/or aprons (child £10 or adult £12) and get them signed by her. This could make a very good ‘Mother’s Day’ or birthday present. So again, please be prepared, as we will only be able to accept cash or cheques.
If you have any queries about the event please contact Mr Palmer at firstname.lastname@example.org
On Friday the Year 8 children held their annual Bring and Buy Sale in aid of the charities ‘Hope against Cancer’ and ‘Help for Heroes’.
Thanks to the support of the children and parents they had lots of items to sell and they raised the splendid total of £400.
They also raised £50 for Sport Relief by selling merchandise.
Well done to all the members of Year 8 , who looked great in their ‘onesies’!
Well done to the Woof Club (4EM) who organised and ran the club’s first Cake Sale at school, to raise money for the Dogs Trust. Lots of the class helped to support the event by bringing in cakes and biscuits.
The charity has just sent a lovely certificate and letter giving them a ‘great round of appaws’ for their fantastic donation of over £50.
The club has lots of other fundraising ideas for the year and is planning another Cake Sale on Monday to celebrate Fiona Cairns coming into school.
Congratulations to Sam, Archie and Pippa (with a small contribution from Millie) who recently raised £109 for charity. Leicester Botanical Gardens were holding an Open Day near to Sam’s house and he decided to sing and play his ukulele outside his front gate. He was accompanied and supported by the others. The money will be donated to two charities: ‘National Autism Society’ and ‘Little Princess’.
It is a great credit to this group that they thought of the idea and carried it through. They received lots of favourable comments on the day. It heart-warming to know that they were willing to give up their own time to help other people. Well done!
The Year 8 children have been starting to organise their annual Bring and Buy Sale this week. The event will take place in the foyer of the New Building on Friday 21st March 2014, from around 9:20am until noon.
They hope to raise lots of money to support ‘Hope Against Cancer’ (our school Charity of the Year) and ‘Help for Heroes’.
Over the next few days they will be asking the children and parents to consider supporting the event by donating items. These can be books, toys, games, DVDs, CDs, cakes and other assorted items. So why not tidy your bedroom this weekend and see if you can find anything that you don’t use anymore!
