We believe all children should participate and represent school in sport.  This might sound woolly, but it’s not- it is a genuine belief.  School has been delighted with attitude, performances and results so far this term.  This week we have seen individual improvements in the swimming pool and Max (Y7) being crowned U13’s county squash champion; we’ve also witnessed some great team performances against Oakham, Maidwell Hall and Laxton school.  But the sporting highlight of the week must go to our Y4 girls in their hockey tournament at Stamford. Played four, won four.  Congratulations girls (& coaching staff!)

The triumphant Y4 squad.

In our assemblies this week we welcomed Reverend Kim Ford of St Cuthbert’s Church.  She spoke to the pupils about the importance of being ‘thankful’.  Mr Stocks also led an assembly based on democracy.  Next week, under Mr Stocks’ guidance, Stoneygate will have its first school council meeting.

Year 5 improved their knowledge of Roman history this week with a trip to the Jewry wall.  Not only did they further their knowledge on Roman bathing and mosaics, they also ‘joined the Roman army’ and worked on their marching drills!

Finally, I’d like to thank the SSA and Mrs Tilley for hosting such a lovely ‘welcome back night’ at Bridge Barn farm.

Please do join us for Open morning tomorrow.
