Music and sport continue to thrive at Stoneygate.  I’ve just returned from the Junior Choir concert which was magnificent- well done to all involved and to the Music dept for organising the event.

Congratulations to all our cricketers, rounders teams and tennis players- special mention, however must go to Finn (Y8) for bowling a hat-trick against Stamford and Henry (Y4) for his bowling figures at the Kwik Cricket competition at MHCC.  I’d also like to draw your attention to those pupils who represented us at the ‘Quad Kids’ event- well done to all teams in all categories.  For further details do please read some of the sports blogs.

I do need to clarify some issues.  The Leicester Mercury did run an article this week about ‘Stoneygate Prep School’ and its future.  This was incorrect; we are not planning on changing the name of the school.  We are proud of Stoneygate School and its name will remain the same.  I would also like to clarify that I did bring a bayonet into school!  This was part of series of assemblies based on Olympic values.  After a mock fencing bout between myself and Mr Hackney, I spoke about the famous Russian cheat Boris Onishchenko.

Boris “the Cheat” was found out; Mr Hackney was unscathed…

Congratulations to this week’s “Stars of the Week”:

Rosie in Rec (Maths money work)

Rosie in Y1 (for halving numbers with accuracy)

Harley in 2HM & Alfie in 2JV

Good luck to the boys’ cricket team tonight as they face a formidable opposition… their fathers! I look forward to meeting some of you tonight at Kibworth Cricket Club.
