Colts Soccer extra report

Below is the match report that Max W did for the game on Wednesday.

On Wednesday 25th March Stoneygate under 10’s A Team played Leicester Grammar School at home.

It was perfect weather for the local derby, supported by parents from both schools.

We had a strong team with Thomas M in goal, a great defensive wall, George B on the left, George H on the right and Will McE in the centre.

In midfield we had Max W (Capt) on the left and Will M right and, up front, was Daniel R.

The team started well pushing forward with pace, but were unable to break through Leicester’s defence. They then pushed us back and nearly scored with a corner crossed close to the line.

The half time score was 0 – 0, which was a fair score.

A very determined Stoneygate team came out fast.

Again the team drove from the defence up to Dan to score the first goal and put Stoneygate ahead.

All the team were busy as Leicester’s goalie kicked long balls deep into our  defence.

Great passing skills were used to again attack the Leicester area.

An amazing through ball from Dan found Max on the left who shot and scored Stoneygate’s second goal.

All the players closed down any chance Leicester had of scoring and worked well as a team keeping a clean sheet.

The final score was Stoneygate 2 Leicester Grammar 0

The Man of the Match was Will M who never stopped running and pressuring the opposition.

Champagne Moment went to Will Mc for setting up the first goal and Dan R for putting it in the back of the net.
