Boys squash v Stamford

On Monday 2nd March – Away

We played against a very strong Stamford team and unfortunately 4 of our top 6 players. At the last minute George W, Seb S, Patrick B and Charlotte W filled in as reserves. The Stamford team was older than ours but this made us more determined. We played best of 3 games and there were some very close matches with quite a few going all the way. I think the longest game was played by Freddie M at no. 2. Her first game ended 17-19 which is almost like playing 2 games!
Probably the most amazing match was at no. 1. Where Philip W, having been 0-2 down, fought his way back to win 3-2 against an opponent who represents their U19 2nd team. Philip has been a wonderful ambassador for the Stoneygate Squash Team over the past few years, only losing one match out of possibly about 30 matches. Today’s result showed great grit and determination. I hope he continues playing at Oakham.

Results:
1. Philip W won 3-2
2. Freddie M lost 0-2
3. Max W lost 0-2
4. Seb S lost 0-2
5. Oliver M lose 1-2
6. George W won 2-0
7. Patrick B won 2-1
8. Charlotte W won 2-1

Overall score Stoneygate 4, Stamford 4
