Colts Soccer v Wellingborough

On Wednesday the remainder of the Colts (the top eight players being away at the Leicester City tournament) took on Wellingborough School at the Lutterworth Soccer Centre.

Our stand in A team were expected to find it tough against Wellingborough U11A, but in actual fact they flourished. We took an early lead and never lost it, ending up winners 5-1. Dan R scored a hat-trick, Max W one and Sidd B one. Our boys dominated the play, were stronger in the tackle, were more skilful on the ball and were better organised. They covered each other very well when defending and reacted quickly when attacking. Karan was Man of the Match, for the second week running, for his superb performance in goal, but any one of the rest of the team (Max, Will McE, Sidd B and Dan R) could have won the award. Well done!

Our B team consisting of Tom M, Will M, Kian D, Oliver H and Bertie L (and Thomas W) lost 2-6 (2-3 HT). In the opening minutes Stoneygate struggled to find their formation against a strong Wellingborough team. Finding themselves two goals down after five minutes Stoneygate needed to adjust quickly, which they did to good effect. The start of the second half was a more even contest until Tom M (GK) collided with the goal post and required some time off the pitch. Kian took over in goal and Thomas W replaced him in defense. Thomas W contributed well to the team, however, the disruption to formation allowed Wellingborough to increase their lead. Man of the Match was awarded to Will M (goal scorer) and champagne moment was given to Tom M

Our C team lost 2-9 with two goals from Henry H.
Henry H won Man of the Match and George B won Champagne Moment.
Our D team won 5-3 with a hat-trick from Henry T and one goal from George A
Henry won Man of the Match and Lucas H won Champagne Moment.

When combined with our performance at Leicester City this was a very good day for the Stoneygate Colts.
Many thanks go to all the parents who attended to support the boys
