Year 8 allowed to stick out their tongues

Year 8 started a new topic today on inheritance and variation. We discovered that not everyone can roll their tongues, or taste a bitter substance called PTC (which might explain some people’s aversion to Brussels sprouts!) We found a Darwin’s tubercle on Hattie and Will, bent pinkie’s on Lara and widow’s peaks on Kezia, Fran and Joni, all characteristics thought to have some genetic cause.

Harriet and Archie most definitely cannot!

You can tell by their faces these students can taste the bitter PTC.
