Colts A Rugby

The Colts A team have played 2 matches recently where they have performed extremely well but with no luck. The team consisted of Ed B (Captain), Kai W, Caspian E-G, Olly H, Karan M, Spike M, Sid B, Matthew W, Jack U, Hugo F, Bertie L and Alfie W.

The first match on Wednesday 19th November was against Fairfield and proved to be the teams best performance of the year losing 14 – 21. The man of the match award went to the whole team for an outstanding performance. The tackling and commitment to contact was evident and the running skills came to the fore as all players tried their hardest to win the game. Alas the luck was not on their side.

The second match saw the team come up against local rivals Leicester GS. Due to illnesses the match was reduced to 10 a side. The LGS team was well drilled and dominated the game from the start. This seemed to make some of the Stoneygate players freeze and their new found commitment from the previous week all but disappeared. The tackling was exceptional by most players but LGS found our weaknesses and attacked those areas. The second half was much improved however the Final score 12 – 47 was due in the main to the poor first half where Stoneygate let in 4 tries without reply.

A champagne moment occurred in this match when Spike M carrying the ball forwards to the try line was driven over by what seemed the whole of his team mates. man of the Match once again went to Ed B for his tackling and all round performance.

Many thanks must go to Market Harborough Rugby Club for hosting these matches and allowing us the use of their pitches and facilities. Also to all the parents who have supported the boys throughout the season so far with great enthusiasm and encouragement.
