On Saturday 25th October Louise Arnold, Charlotte Wilson, Philip Wright and Jasmine Moldon-Curran travelled to Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire to compete in the 75cm show jumping class as Team Stoneygate.
It was an early start, 5am in some cases, to travel the 2 hour journey with trailers to the impressive venue. The course walk was from 7-8am and still in darkness. The class started promptly at 8 o clock and although cold was a dry day.
All the ponies were neatly plaited up and looked very smart along with their riders.
Louise went off first for us and jumped a beautiful fast round setting a great time of 24.1 seconds. Charlotte went second on a borrowed pony and although jumping clear picked up some time faults. Philip riding next went for a fast time and, unfortunately, had a pole down. Lastly Jasmine went on her new pony, only having had her for a week, and jumped a lovely clear round.
All four members and ponies did the school proud, but even Louise’s time was not quick enough to take her through to the second round.
Three of the team’s four ponies were in their 20th year with only Louise’s 7 year old bringing down the average age.
Congratulations must go to all four of them for qualifying for such a prestigious event and representing Stoneygate School.
Louise also had qualified for the 85cm class on Sunday so travelled back down the following day.
On her fantastic pony Percy she jumped clear setting a fast time. This qualified them for the afternoon’s jump off where they came 8th, a marvellous achievement. Well done Louise.
Thank you to the children and parents who supported this event.
