On Wednesday 1st October, on a beautiful day for rugby the Colts A team travelled to Stamford Junior School to play 11 a side rugby. The team consisting of; Ed B (Captain), Olly H, Spike M, Caspian E-G, Jack U, Hugo F, Kai W, Kian D, Karan M, George H and Tom M, played against a very large and intimidating Stamford team who from the start of the game took control and put Stoneygate under pressure in all phases of the game.

Despite putting in many tackles and holding their own in the scrums and line-outs Stoneygate were the architects of their own downfall. We gave away three or four tries through poor passing and let chances to score disappear by going into contact instead of moving the ball wide.

Man of the match went to Caspian E-G whose performance in the second half as hooker winning all the scrums was outstanding.

Final result Stoneygate 0 – Stamford 54.

It was a hard lesson to take but the boys are beginning to realise they have to pass the ball in order to move forward to score and this can only be done with two hands on the ball. Hopefully this will be put right in time for the visit of their next opponents next week.
