Y8 did the coolest experiment today, finding the iron in Cornflakes. Iron is needed in small amounts in your body especially for healthy blood. Tesco cornflakes has 16mg of iron, according to the packet, which is enough to extract if you know how. We ground and dissolved cornflakes in hot water, left them for a while and then used a very very strong magnet to pull out the iron. A little tail of iron filings can just be seen in these pictures if you look very carefully.
