Year 6 went on safari and spotted tigers!
OK, it was a compost safari and they were tiger worms, but it was still an exciting morning. Master composters, Rod and Ted from Leicester City Council came to visit. We hunted around in compost and found pot worms, centipedes and slugs etc, and we magnified their slimy images on Rod’s computer screen. We went head first into the wormery and dug out all sorts, including ants eggs, worm eggs and fungal threads.
We also learned how to turn kitchen rubbish into soil. We their buckets of grass, straw, shredded paper and herbs to construct our own Rot Bots so that we can watch the composting process at home over the summer. !
