Equestrian Team

On Thursday 29th May the Stoneygate School Equestrian Team represented the school in a show jumping competition organised by Wellingborough School.  The team were Charlotte, on her pony ‘Mr Fudge Brown’, Louise, on ‘Percy’, Phillip on ‘Zorro’ and Jasmine riding ‘Pudsey Bear’. The riders had to get their ponies ready and looking smart for the first class that they entered, which was to jump fences with a height of between 70-75 centimetres.   The children have to remember the correct order of the jumps and also part of the course is timed so they have to ride as fast as they can whilst being very careful not to knock any fences down.  All the children rode brilliantly with a clear round.  There were about eight schools jumping plus about another twenty children who had entered as individuals.  Stoneygate team came second overall and Louise also came second as an individual, which were both brilliant results.  It also means that they qualify for the National Finals.  The next class the children competed in was the 80-85cm jumps.  The pressure was on for this class and again the whole team rode well but this time they managed to accumulate some time faults and they finished seventh overall.  I would like to congratulate the children on their fantastic achievement and for representing the school so well.
If any other children are interested in joining the equestrian team next year please come and talk to me.
