On Friday afternoon Year 2 were excited to welcome Tom from ‘The Raptor Foundation’ with his amazing selection of birds of prey. We enjoyed learning new and interesting facts about Kestrels, Hawks and Owls. Next we worked in groups of 3 and were given an owl pellet to dissect. It was amazing to see the bones and skulls of the creatures eaten, and the live maggots were an added extra!! After that Tom demonstrated how the birds fly. It was great fun to have a hawk swoop over our heads. The African Spotted Owl did not feel like flying on Friday but the Barn Owl made up for it, he glided silently around the hall and let everyone hold him using a special glove. What a fantastic treat and brilliant learning experience!!
